Ace by DAISY

File accessibility and proper file structure are critical for every project in the Well-Formed Document Workflow.

Ace checker will report warnings and violations related to missing accessibility metadata as well as head-level hierarchy and color contrast issues. A fully compliant ePub file will have no violations or warnings.

Examples of hierarchy errors include:

  • The use of eh instead of ah for heads in Notes sections
  • A chapter starting with a b-head (bh) or a c-head (ch)

Note: Ace checker cannot currently detect the presence of alt text, but its inclusion is strictly required for a fully compliant ePub.

Scribe provides access to the Ace by DAISY app in the External Tools Menu in the Digital Hub.
